Movie Review: Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim (2013) Poster
This film is produced in 2013 by Warner Bross pictures and Legendary pictures. It is directed by Guillermo del Toro. The writer of this film is Travis Beacham but for the screen play he and the director work together. The genre of this film is action and science fiction.

The film begins when a monster called Kaiju which is kind of sea monster appears from the Pacific Ocean. It looks like a sea creature and has many types with different size and weight. Kaiju attacks everything and destroys a whole human life. Mankind is not stay and watches their life broken, some of them make an invention—massive robot—called Jaeger. To operate Jaeger is needed two people whose brains are connected so they are like one human being. A Jaeger is made with all digital system and has a sophisticated weapon.

Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) is the Jaeger pilot who is trusted by the Marshal Stacker Pantecost (Idris Alba). Raleigh Becket has a partner called Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi). Kaiju has destroyed many cities like San Francisco, Sydney and it is detected will attack Hong Kong. Realizing Kaiju is really physically powerful, there are many Jaegers and the trained pilots and also a powerful Jaeger one which uses a nuclear energy which are mobilized to kill Kaiju. The conflict is getting complicated when there are figured out that more than one Kaiju will attack Hong Kong.

I mostly like when they do their mission and all of the Jaegers are all united—include Gypsy Danger—to kill the Kaijus. It shows the struggle and the sacrifice which is done by the heroes for the mankind’s life. In this scene, I get the tense feeling, sad feeling, and surprised feeling.

This film can be watched starting from the teenager. This is extremely recommended film because it combines action and science fiction into one atmosphere.
